Clarification I & II (2025) continues the artist’s sustained inquiry into how the unspoken can be articulated visually. The work seeks an image that can communicate without reliance on language, focusing instead on the sensorial and embodied register of the haptic. This body of work presents the haptic as a site where gesture, perception and tacit knowledge converge.

The work began with a series of ordinary furniture assembly diagrams. The artist examined their spatial logic and selected three forms to transfer onto lino plates. Once carved, these plates were layered in primary colours to produce a set of unique prints. Through this process, functional diagrams are reimagined as affective images. Instruction gives way to intuition, and the printed surface reveals an interplay of colour, movement and embodied understanding. The transformation of these diagrams positions the work in a space where the seen begins to speak independently of words.

Latimer work is in conversation with Danielle Evans’ print Codes from the QCAD folio box, a black and white linocut of a domestic kitchen that presents an anonymous, vacant interior. This sensed absence prompted Latimer to introduce colour, layered forms and a feeling of movement, creating a printed environment that suggests human presence rather than its withdrawal. In doing so, the work supports the curatorial focus on revisiting the history of the folio box while extending its themes through contemporary explorations of gesture, space and the haptic image.
