Maree Purnell.

Maree Purnell’s practice is grounded in sustained engagement with the natural environment, attentive to both its beauty and the disruption of its ecologies through industrial impact. Working across printmaking, papermaking and painting, she examines the interconnectedness of humanity and the natural world.

Based in Brisbane/Meanjin, Purnell draws on formative experiences of growing up in regional Queensland, alongside a long-standing commitment to art education. Her work is held in collections including La Trobe University Art Collection, and she has been selected for national awards such as the 2025 Burnie Print Prize and the 2025 Walyulup Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award.
