TEEYA RYAN

Born in Cairns, lives in Sydney (Gadigal).

Teeya Ryan is a Sydney-based artist whose practice operates at the intersection of performance and printmaking. Holding a Bachelor of Visual Art (2024) from Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, Ryan majored in English with an emphasis on printmaking. During her studies, she was awarded multiple scholarships recognising both academic excellence and artistic potential, including the Jerome de Costa Memorial Award and the Zelda Stedman Artist Scholarship.

Ryan’s work foregrounds process, revealing the mechanics of printmaking while prompting critical reflection on spectatorship and the function of the gallery within contemporary Australian art contexts. This conceptual approach was first presented in New Contemporaries at Sydney College of the Arts in 2024, followed by exhibitions with More Than Reproduction and Sydenham International in 2025. Her recent solo exhibition I AM MY OWN MACHINE at PARKER Contemporary marks a significant development in her practice. Alongside her studio work, Ryan teaches art to primary school students, an experience that informs her ongoing investigation into accessibility, labour, and the possibilities of artmaking in contemporary Australia.
