DANIEL CLIFFORD

Born in New Zealand, lives and works in Brisbane, Australia.

Clifford’s practice embraces the tragicomic and the imperfect, inviting reflection on the complexities that surround us, the tensions we navigate, and the ever-shifting forces that shape who we are. Working across sculpture, installation and public art, his projects often emerge through collaboration, drawing together diverse disciplines, materials and contexts. Rupture is not treated as an endpoint but as a generative condition — a moment of collision from which new trajectories unfold.

He has held significant roles across the Australian arts sector, including Artistic Associate for Visual Arts at Metro Arts, Creative Lead at iAM Projects, and Principal of Art + Design at UAP (Urban Art Projects). Through these positions, Clifford has contributed to the development and delivery of major public art projects, working closely with artists, architects and communities.

Clifford is the founder of Cargo Culture, an ongoing platform that supports experimental, collaborative and site-responsive projects. His practice continues to operate at the intersection of contemporary art and the public realm, foregrounding dialogue, exchange and the expanded possibilities of making.
