BRIDGET HILLEBRAND
Born in Australia, lives in Melbourne.
Bridget Hillebrand is an interdisciplinary artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. She completed a practice-based PhD at Monash University and a Master of Arts in Fine Art at RMIT University. Her practice moves across print, artist books, audio, video, objects and installation, with recent projects reflecting on ecologies, embodiment and place.
Hillebrand regularly undertakes artist residencies and site-specific projects, using these opportunities to engage directly with unique landscapes, waterways and coastal environments. Her work is held in major public and private collections in Australia and internationally, including the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Maiiam Contemporary Art Museum, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
She has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas and has received a number of awards, including the Experimental Print Prize at Castlemaine Art Museum in 2021. In 2024, she was appointed Australian Commissioner for the 12th Ulsan International Print Festival in South Korea. Her site-specific installation River was exhibited at Arsenale Nord in Venice for the 19th Arte Laguna Prize in 2024 and at the University of Québec in Trois-Rivières as part of the IMPACT13 conference in 2025. Her recent large-scale immersive installation Into the Deep was presented at Latrobe Regional Gallery, Victoria, in September 2025.
